Your homestay family might have other international students, but no one will speak the same language as you.
Indian homestay families are very pet friendly. Your homestay family might have pets. Please note, if you requested to stay in a house with no pets, we will do our best to accommodate your request.
Your bedroom will be located above ground (main floor or second floor). Some of our homestays have windows in the room.
All our homestay families do not allow anyone to smoke inside their houses. If you are a smoker, please let us know before your arrival.
All Indian homestay families have house rules. Please talk to your homestay family about their house rules on your first day and do your best to follow them.
Guests and overnight guests are not allowed in your homestay unless your homestay parents give you permission.
You will be responsible to pay for any damage you have caused during your stay.
Breakfast is usually prepared by the homestay family and may consist of a traditional Indian or continental breakfast.
Dinner is prepared by the family. Dinner time can vary depending on the family; your homestay family will inform you about the dinner time. Dinner is usually a well-balanced, full meal.
If you choose a half-board homestay you will not be allowed to use the kitchen. If you would like to use the kitchen, please ask your homestay family first; but be aware that they are not obligated to allow you to use the kitchen.

Homestay families will have WiFi. You can ask the host family to give you access to the internet connection.
Some homestays will ask you to do your own washing. They will teach you how to operate the washing machine. Other homestays will prefer to do your washing for you.
You will have keys for your room only. Generally, homestays don’t provide the main entrance door keys to the student for safety reasons. If you are planning to be out late, please inform your host family and let them know what time they can expect you back.
Common areas, such as the lounge, can be enjoyed by everyone in the home. Bedrooms are private, you should only enter if you are invited, it is always best to knock first.
There is no curfew or specific time that you have to return each day. Your host family understands that you are an adult; however, they would expect you to inform them if you are coming home late or will not have dinner with the family.
In the state of Delhi, you must be at least 25 years old to purchase alcohol; however, even if you are permitted by state laws, you must still ask permission from your homestay parents to drink in their house. Some families are okay with this request and some are not.
You should ask your host family for permission to use the kitchen and let them know what you are planning to cook. Vegetarianism is common in India and some families may not allow you to cook meat. They can also help you to shop for ingredients or supplies that you might require.
It is up to our homestay whether they wish to allow their students to receive post to their address. If the homestay does not allow mail to be sent to their home, it will be stated within their house rules. Alternatively, you can use the school address to receive your mail.
Some homestays are okay with you having guests over, but it would be great to ask for their permission. Others will ask you to meet friends away from home for safety reasons.
Please inform your homestay if you misplace your house keys. You may need to cover any costs associated with replacing the keys. It is better to always keep your keys safe; key replacement and locksmith services, especially after hours, are very expensive.
